Booming for Some, Brutal for Others: What's Really Happening in the Job Market

Australia added 89,000 jobs last month.
Unemployment is steady.
Participation is near record highs.
But if you work in marketing, digital or creative - it probably doesn't feel like a boom.
Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC)'s latest jobs report shows where the real growth is:
Health, aged care and infrastructure
Public sector and government-funded initiatives
Full-time roles for women on the rise (a positive sign)
But the unemployment rate is steady as more people are entering the job market
Meanwhile, AdNews Australia reports:
67% of marketers are actively looking for new roles
60% say they're being ghosted after applying
41% of people don't know how to match their skills to the roles on offer
The disconnect I keep seeing:
There are fewer roles in the market as agencies are still cautious, and many are holding off on new hires
The roles that do exist are often written with vague or conflicting expectations
Candidates are applying without a clear link to what the role needs
Strong talent slips past unnoticed - and businesses lose time
If you're a hiring manager, and your open roles are dragging on - it's not just a sourcing issue. It's a clarity issue.
And if you're a jobseeker, especially in marketing or creative, it's not just about applying more. It's about applying smarter.
This is what I help with - on both sides.
